How to Become a Certified Lash Technician?
I think I’ll take it back to the beginning. Instead of focusing on all the advanced information, talk about the basics. Are you a beauty or aesthetics student looking for a career? Not sure what business to get into? Do eyelash extensions sound exciting to you? Well, guess what… They are! Eyelash extensions are fun and exciting, and doing them can create a great career. With this information, you are sure to become a certified eyelash technician!
What is a Certified Lash Technician
Let’s make sure this is the right career for you first! So what is a certified eyelash technician? Certified Eyelash technicians are licensed individuals who can work for themselves or in a business that specializes in eyelash extensions!
Qualifications for a Certified Lash Technician
The qualifications of certified eyelash technicians are not limited to “LOL New Word Alert”. Many states require you, yes, to be certified for eyelash extensions, but also to be licensed by an cosmetologist or cosmetologist! Why is that? Well, any time you’re working in a sensitive area of the human body, you’re going to have to know more than your average Joe-Shmoe. Eyelash extensions also require a number of different chemical products that can seriously injure or damage the eyes or skin if not used properly, YIKES! However, not all states require licenses, believe it or not. However, I recommend that you get permission, as this will make you a reliable and reputable choice for potential customers!
Schedule for a Certified Lash Technician
Whether you work for someone or yourself, your income depends on your schedule. Most certified eyelash technicians work many hours… Because they like a lot of money! Of course, you’ll want to choose the day that best fits your family life/schedule, but most importantly the day that best fits the customer! There is nothing wrong with eyelash technicians working on weekends, when most clients are available. Working in a salon, you can assume you work 3-5 days a week, 5-8 hours a day. Working for yourself, you may work 2 days some weeks, 6 or 7 days some weeks! Keep in mind that your income depends on your dedication and schedule.
Income Potential for a Certified Lash Technician
The average wage for this position ranges from $14 to $25 an hour. Now, don’t let that stop you; The position almost never pays an hourly wage. These amounts are based on annual income and average tips. If you work in a beauty studio or salon, you will typically see commissions of around 25-45%. That means your average hourly rate will be closer to $14 to $19 per hour. If you have your own eyelash space and business (and steady clientele, unfortunately, it’s much harder to grow as an individual), you can assume your income will be closer to $20 to $25 per hour. But (big buts), a lot of that may end up back in your space rents, taxes, and products! Everything to know and consider when exploring a career as a certified eyelash technician!
Having said that, depending on qualifications, schedule and location (as well as other factors such as size, price per service and overheads), eyelash technicians can potentially be well paid and have an outstanding career!
